SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV — Shepherd University students will give visitors an opportunity to learn more about the Shepherd Family Cemetery on New Street during an open house on Saturday, April 25 from 3-5 p.m.

The students are currently taking the Introduction to Historic Preservation class taught by Dr. Keith Alexander, assistant professor of history, and have been working in cooperation with the Historic Shepherdstown Commission to preserve the cemetery.

During the open house students will show visitors how to map cemeteries, how to transcribe the information on the stones, and how to clean them without causing damage. The event is free and open to the public.
