ISSUED: 25 July 2017
MEDIA CONTACT: Valerie Owens

SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV — Shepherd University’s Appalachian Studies Program and Speak Story Series will present Jane Dorfman, who will share some of the less-heard stories from the Arabian Nights: Tales for Adults, on August 8, at 7:30 p.m. in Reynolds Hall. Admission is $12 for the general public and free to Shepherd University students with a valid Rambler ID.

Dorfman plans to present an evening of storytelling that is full of twists and turns, somewhat risqué, with a bit of cross-dressing, a little erotic poetry, and a lot of fun. Dorfman is a performing member and president of Voices-in-the-Glen, a storytelling guild in the Washington, D.C., area, and a member of the National Storytelling Network. She has told stories at the Smithsonian Institution, Washington Folk Festival, Virginia Celtic Festival, Rockville Festival of the Arts, Elva Van Winkle Memorial Storytelling Festival, and to storytelling classes at the University of Maryland and Catholic University.
