Eligibility: Available to veterans who have graduated from a Team River Runner program (to be verified by chapter coordinator) and enroll at Shepherd University. Priority to those with unmet financial need.
Parameters: $1000 per year, renewable each year if sufficient funds are available. Minimum GPA and full-time enrollment rules apply, file FAFSA by March 1 priority deadline to be considered. Service to the local TRR chapter is expected.
Since Summer 2013, Team River Runner-Shepherd has served area veterans in recovery from the wounds of combat, visible and invisible. Veterans who graduate from our program come away with very fond memories of their time in the Shepherd University Wellness Center pool, and of their interaction with our volunteers, many of whom are faculty, staff, or students at Shepherd University. Because of that intensely positive connection to Shepherd, we have already seen graduates of the program choose to matriculate at Shepherd University to continue their education. This scholarship is a way of encouraging them to do so, extending an important connection and source of support to our veterans.
