SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV — Shepherd University and Montgomery College have established articulation agreements in mathematics, general engineering, computer information technology, and computer information science.

Shepherd President Suzanne Shipley and Montgomery President DeRionne P. Pollard signed the agreements September 3 in a ceremony at Montgomery College.

The agreements will allow Montgomery College students with a 2.8 grade point average or better to transfer a maximum of 72 credit hours earned in several associate degree programs to selected Shepherd bachelor of science degrees. The agreements allow for the transfer of the A.S. in mathematics to a B.S. in mathematics; A.S. in general engineering to B.S. in computer engineering; and A.A. in computer science to either the B.S. in computer information science or computer information technology.

As part of the agreement, Shepherd will waive the application fee and provide transfer advising access and orientation. Montgomery College students eligible for the T.O.P.S. (Transfer Opportunity Program at Shepherd) program would receive a 25 or 35 percent tuition discount at Shepherd based on their grade point average earned at Montgomery College.

“These agreements pave the way for Montgomery College associate degree graduates to continue their studies at Shepherd and earn a bachelor of science degree in a variety of computer and mathematics-related fields,” said Shepherd President Suzanne Shipley. “Qualifying students could receive a tuition discount, making Shepherd an attractive choice for their continued studies.”
