Shepherd hosts project management course November 8

SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV — Shepherd University’s IEEE Technology and Engineering Management Society Student Branch is hosting a project management workshop called “Getting Project Management Basics Right” on Saturday November 8 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. in the Cumberland Room of the Student Center.

The workshop speaker will be Doug Holly, a principal consultant at the Eagle Management Group. Holly has more than 30 years experience in project management and has worked in software and product development, and mergers and acquisitions. He is also an affiliate professor at Loyola University’s Sellinger School of Business.

According to the IEEE web page, the organization is the world’s largest professional association dedicated to advancing technological innovation and excellence for the benefit of humanity.

Workshop attendees will learn more about the project management process, which includes setting goals, identifying and working with various groups, building a plan, completing the project, and how to build and engage a team. They will receive a certificate of attendance and IEEE CEU/PHD education credits.

The cost for the workshop is $25 for public non IEEE members; $20 for public IEEE members; $15 for Shepherd University faculty with a valid Rambler ID; and $10 for Shepherd students with a valid Rambler ID. Tickets can be purchased in the Ram’s Den Tuesday, November 4 from 1:30-5 p.m., and Wednesday, November 5 from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Non-students can register online at meetings.vtools.ieee.org/m/29627.
