Adopt-A-Highway,
September 27, 2003
SEO Members met Saturday
morning to clean our section of Flowing Springs Road near
Charles Town. We netted a total of 28 bags of grade
A-1 prime garbage from our three-mile stretch of country
lane, in an SEO record two hours. Thanks to Shepherd
College's School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics for
providing pizza for some hard-working students, and thanks
to all participating Members!
West Virginia Wilderness
Coalition Land Survey
Throughout this semester, SEO
members have been traveling to various forested areas in
West Virginia to assist in the effort to expand existing
wilderness areas in the state. We have made a total
of four trips to potential wilderness areas in the
Monongahela National Forest to map, using GPS units and
topographic maps, human impacts and points of interest.
