Resources for Teachers
The Writing Center is making an increasing effort to provide resources to assist professors. We currently offer two main services that can be requested at any time.
Outreach Program
At any time, a professor can request to have a tutor come to their class and give a short five-minute presentation that introduces the services available to students as well as answer any questions that students may have about the Academic Support Center. We believe that it may make the prospect of signing up for a tutoring session considerably less intimidating if a friendly face can be associated with the experience.
Substitute Teaching
While our tutors are not qualified to teach college courses, they are prepared to come and lecture on any topic that they would cover in a tutoring session, such as:
- Research Techniques
- Study Skills
- Essay Structure
- Thesis Statements
We intend to expand these services as time goes on, so please check back periodically for updates.
