Travel to Shepherd University

AIR: The closest international airports to Shepherdstown, WV are Reagan National Airport (Washington, DC), Washington-Dulles International Airport (Virginia) and Baltimore-Washington International (Maryland). All three airports are about 2 hours away from Shepherdstown, WV. There is a taxi service from the airports that can transport students to campus. This service is in no way affiliated with the school and can be used at students own risk. Taxi service by ERU.

LAND: The most reliable form of land transportation to and from Shepherdstown, WV is by MARC train. The three stops closest to Shepherd University are Harpers Ferry, WV, Duffields and Martinsburg, WV on the Brunswick Line. If students ride the MARC train, they can arrange pick up with the University. Students need to contact Student Affairs at 304-876-5325 at least 3 business days in advance to arrange for transportation from Duffields or Martinsburg. The bus system, PanTran, can transport students from the Martinsburg station to Shepherdstown.

Transportation Around Shepherdstown

Bicycles – Parking for cars can be difficult on campus and students that live on campus are encouraged to walk to class. Another option for getting around campus is an inexpensive, used bicycle. There are bicycle racks at most buildings around campus. Some services in Shepherdstown are also accessible by bicycle, including a grocery store, a pharmacy, and a bank.

Personal Cars – All students living on campus are permitted to bring cars. Students may not be able to park their vehicle close to where they live and are discouraged from driving to class as there is not much parking available near academic buildings. All students with cars on campus are required to purchase a parking permit from campus police as well as have a driver’s license and current auto insurance.

PanTran – The PanTran is a bus system that has a route specifically around Shepherd University. There are designated stops and times on campus. In addition, the PanTran has routes to Martinsburg for a small fee.
