Climate

Shepherdstown, WV has four distinct seasons: spring, summer, fall, and winter. The temperature varies greatly throughout the year. In the summer (June-August), the weather is typically hot, humid and sticky. As fall approaches (September-November), temperatures drop. Winter (December-March) brings very cold temperatures along with some ice and snow. Spring (April-May) has beautiful days of temperate weather. Shepherdstown has no predictable season for rain although Spring and Fall tend to be wetter than other times of the year.

Coping with cold weather:

  • Layer your clothing. A sweater with a light jacket can help in spring and fall!
  • Folding umbrellas that can fit into a backpack or purse are common and useful!
  • Accessories such as gloves/mittens, hats, and scares can be kept in a backpack!
