Little House Open 10 am 2 pm
The Little House on Princess Street was built during the summers of 1928 and 1929 as part of a miniature one-acre farm which was operated by students under the direction of Florence Shaw and Edith Thompson, supervisors of observation and teaching at Shepherd, with the support of then-President W.H.S. White. The Little House was used as a summer laboratory for future teachers to observe children who worked the miniature farm and played in the house, which doubled as a local daycare center and nursery. A tablet near the front door honors Florence Shaw, the guiding force behind the project, "for her services as professor of education at Shepherd College from 1923-1961."
