Webmaster Recommendations
In order for each person to enjoy their Shepherd internet experience to the maximum, the Webmaster for Student Affairs recommends that your web browser be upgraded to the latest version (excuding "Alpha" and "Beta" versions). This means that your web browser should be updated to Internet Explorer 7, Mozilla's Firefox 2.0, Safari, Opera, and/or Netscape. There are important updates that will alow you to have a better visual experience when viewing webpages.
Please also be sure to have downloaded and installed Adobe Acrobat Reader, as well as Adobe Macromedia's Flash and Shockwave programs as these will allow you to enjoy a more content-rich internet experience.
If you are experiencing a slow internet connection, try to delete your Temporary Internet Files and Cookies. If this does not help, please take note of your internet connection. If you are on a Dial-Up Modem, your internet connection will be much slower than someone on a High-Speed Internet Connection (DSL, Satellite, Cable, T1+). If you are on a slow connection, some pages may give you the option not to use flash. This is the path that will decrease your page load time.
Important note!
Visiting webpages with pornographic, online gaming, or heavy advertisement content may result in your computer being infected by viruses, trojan horses, and spy-ware. For Windows users there is almost no grey area - this will happen unless your computer is well protected behind firewalls and anti-virus programs. Even then, no program can protect you 100%. Users running other operating systems, while less targeted, should be just as careful. Also remember that no matter what, your internet activity is tracked and while you can erase evidence on your personal machine, there are still footprints on the servers and networks that you visited. Your activity can be tracked by the authorities so please be responsible about where you go on the internet. This information is not readily acceptable to the general public.
