ORIENTATION STEP I: ADVISEMENT & REGISTRATION - FIRST YEAR STUDENTS

FIRST YEAR STUDENTS

First year students may choose any of the five A&R sessions listed to the right. All sessions are identical. While we try to accommodate your first choice of sessions, there is limited amount of space available per session therefore, reservations for each of the sessions are taken in the order that they are received. The decision of which session to choose should be based on family vacaion and work schedules. Parents and family members are invited and encouraged to attend A&R.

To ensure complete confidentiality of the materials created spcifically for you, please bring your ID with you to A&R.

Why am I required to stay overnight during Orientation Step I: A&R?

It will be your first opportunity for you to spend the night on campus as an official Shepherd student! The A&R program runs late into the evening of day one and begins early on dat two. Through A&R, each student will experience a sample of the college experience.

Additionally, learning takes place both inside and outside of the classroom and Shepherd University is a residential campus. The philosophy of the institution is that students engaged in campus life through programs, activities, and those who reside in residence halls are more successful in their pursuit of an education than those who simply come to campus to attentd class. Advisement & Registration may be the only time that a commuting student will be given the opportunity to stay overnight in a residence hall.

Is it required to attend A&R?

Yes, these are mandatory sessions that each new student must attend to be able to register for his/her classes.
