SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV — The 15th annual Relay For Life of Shepherd University will take place from Friday, April 7, at 4 p.m. until Saturday, April 8, at 4 a.m. at the Wellness Center. This year the theme is based on Dr. Seuss—Cancer Not Here, Not There, Not Anywhere.

The event will kick off with the torch lighting on German Street at 4 p.m. The public can join in this Shepherd tradition to honor campus and community cancer survivors as they pass the torch along the path to the Wellness Center where there will be fundraisers planned by more than 30 teams, including raffles, games, bake sales, food, and dunk tanks. A survivor/caregiver lap will take place at 6 p.m. and there will be a luminaria ceremony at 10 p.m.

“We have students, faculty, staff, and community members committing to the fight against cancer year round,” said Rachel Moreno, community services and service learning coordinator at Shepherd. “I believe that everyone has been touched by cancer at some point in their life, and this event can bring all of us one step closer to finding a cure. We can support those battling cancer, we can remember those who have lost their fight, and keep working on finding a cure so that one day we can eradicate this terrible disease.”
