Shepherd University is pleased to provide the following information regarding our institution's graduation/completion rates. The information is provided in compliance with the Higher Education Act of 1965, as amended. The rates reflect the graduation/completion status of students who enrolled in Fall 1996 and for whom 150% of the normal time-to-completion has elapsed.
During the Fall semester of 1997, 617 first-time, full-time, degree-seeking undergraduate students entered Shepherd University; 535 were seeking baccalaureate degrees and 82 were seeking associate degrees. After six years, or as of August 31, 2002, 38% had graduated. The baccalaureate graduation rate was 41% and the associate graduation rate was 11%. A total of 9% of the original cohort had transferred to other West Virginia state colleges or universities. Data about students who transferred elsewhere are not available.
While reviewing this information, please bear in mind:
The graduation rate was calculated without subtracting students who left to serve in the armed services, on official church missions, in the foreign service of the federal government, or who died or were totally and permanently disabled, because we have insufficient documentation of these events.
