SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV — The Shepherd University Program Board will sponsor Shepfest, an outdoor concert and carnival, Saturday, September 7, from 4 to 8 p.m. on the university intramurals field on West Campus. It will feature music, inflatables, recreation, and food.

Big T, an award-winning DJ for campus radio station WSHC, will host the event, which will feature Shepherd ska band May Weather, as well county-rock band Natalie Stovall and The Drive, who will headline the show at 6:30 p.m.

Stovall started playing the violin at four and has been performing professionally since she was ten. By the time she graduated from high school she had performed in major venues from the Grand Ole Opry to the Oprah Winfrey Show. In 2012 Stovall was named Entertainer of the Year by Campus Activities Magazine in the Reader’s Choice Awards. She was the first female artist named in the category in 20 years.

Local band May Weather won the Program Board’s 2012 Battle of the Bands. It recently released a new album, “Your Life on Optimism.” The band combines multiple rock genres with a solid horn section to create a new progressive sound.

Shepfest will also have laser tag, an obstacle course, mechanical bull, volleyball, Frisbee golf, Rock Hill Creamery ice cream, Pepsi products, corn dogs, and carnival food.

The event is free and open to the community. No outside bottles or containers are allowed, however blankets and lawn chairs are encouraged. Shepfest is made possible through an allocation of student activity fees as approved by the Student Government Association.
