8:00 pm — Festival Showcase Concert featuring award-winning songwriter and musician John Lilly, poet and novelist Fred Chappell and the winner of the West Virginia Young Fiction Writer’s Contest, the Reed Island Rounders String Band, and fiddler Joe Shewbridge with Footnotes Dance Team — Frank Arts Center Theater

 

10:30 pm — Post-concert open jam session with Festival artists at the Mecklenburg Inn (German St.)

 

 

 

Saturday, October 2:

All Day — Open Jam Session — Lawn of McMurran Hall (German Street)

 

11:00 - 12:00 — Community Sing led by the Festival artists – Reynolds Hall

 

12:00 – 1:00 – “Heroines in the Mountains: West Virginia Women” — Presentation led by Shepherd student Katie Frederick — Reynolds Hall ­

 

1:00-2:00 — “Cut Your Own Groove”: How to Release Your Own Music — Workshop led by the Festival artists – Reynolds Hall

 

2:00-3:30 — Appalachian Dance Exhibition and Flatfooting Workshop led by Footnotes Dance Group with music from Lost Creek  — The Great Hall, O’Hurley’s General Store

 

3:30-5:00 — Introduction to Harmony Singing Workshop led by Phil and Ann Case  — Reynolds Hall

           

3:30-5:00 — Natural Partners: Old-Time Fiddle & Banjo Workshop led by the Reed Island Rounders — The Great Hall, O’Hurley’s General Store

           

8:00 — Festival Showcase Concert featuring John Lilly, the Reed Island Rounders, harmony singing with Phil and Ann Case, and Lost Creek String Band featuring 16 year-old champion fiddler Jarred Nutter — Frank Arts Center Theater
