Byrd Center for Legislative Studies -- "The Appalachians: Writers and Renegades, with George Brosi and Silas House" --learn about the role of writers and activists in Appalachia that have impacted the course of civil rights and social justice in the United States. Free 8:00 pm - Appalachian Festival Concert featuring your host John Lilly, blues artist Jeffrey Scott, old-time string band The Young Napoleons, writer Silas House. 2:00 pm - Songwriters on Songwriting - Shepherdstown War Memorial Building (Men's Club) on German Street - Jean Ritchie and John Lilly answer questions and lead a conversation about songwriting for songwriters (and those who just like songs!). Free. 3:30 pm - Square Dance - Shepherdstown War Memorial Building (Men's Club) on German Street - Learn how to do some of WV's simple traditional square dances and dance to some great music from a variety of fantastic old-time players. Free. 8:00 pm - Appalachian Festival Concert featuring John Lilly, legendary folk artist Jean Ritchie and stringband Juanita Fireball and the Continental Drifters.
