About the Artists
TUESDAY, NOV. 3
12:30 pm-1:45 pm -- THE POWER OF CREATIVITY
Student Center Rumsey Room
Visual Artist Rebecca Bluestone will speak about the tremendous amount of information available to us when we explore our creativity. We all "know things that we don't know we know." Through the use of projected images of her studio, process, inspiration and artwork, Rebecca will connect her journey as an artist to the larger picture of each individual finding passion for their life and creative expression. By accessing the inner, more nonverbal part of ourselves we begin to experience a sense of being engaged in our lives that allows creative expression to effortlessly flow into all aspects of lives whether we are artists or not.
THURSDAY, NOV. 5
3:00 -4:00 pm -- "CREATIVITY: THE FUTURE OF LEADERSHIP"
Student Center Leadership Lounge Workshop
Student Center Rumsey Room
Artist Robert Bluestone believes that creativity is the currency of the 21st century and that we will succeed as individuals, families, communities, and as a country in direct proportion to how well we grasp this concept. Robert Bluestone's passion has been to make creativity part of the fabric of people's everyday lives. He empowers and inspires people to go beyond their own self-imposed limitations and doubts and see that creativity is not just the domain of artists; that everyone has it in them to be creative in everything they pursue in life.
7:30 pm -- FREE PERFORMANCE: WOVEN HARMONY
Robert C. Byrd Center for Legislative Studies Auditorium
Woven Harmony is a multi-media performance by Rebecca and Robert Bluestone, incorporating Rebecca's contemporary silk tapestries, projected visual images of their home, studio, process and the landscapes and places from which they have drawn inspiration. All of this is interwoven with music performed by classical guitarist Robert Bluestone. This unique dialogue between visual and musical arts reminds us the essential nature of creativity and human expression.
