NURSING ALUMNI NEWS

MICHELE GOLDMAN ' 92, BSN, RN along with LEONA COOK, '92, ASN, RN and '97, BSN were recipients of the Distinguished Nursing Alumna 2011 award during nursing convocation on May 13, 2011.

Due to their vision, persistence, and professionalism, lives have been changed for the better in the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia.  In its ten years of operation, thousands of area residents have received healthcare that otherwise would not have been provided through more than 56,800 medical visits given and $22.5 million worth of prescriptions dispensed at no charge to patients.  Generating this amount of volunteer professional support and donations is the result of an immense level of creative and diligent work organized and provided by the structure that Michele and Leona set in place and directs.  The clinic is important to Shepherd University's Department of Nursing Education as it serves as a clinical practice and has educated more than 250 Shepherd nursing students through a valuable practice setting.
