Salon Series February 1 concert to explore the Gilded Age

SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV — The Shepherd University Department of Music Salon Series sponsored by Jefferson Security Bank continues on Thursday, February 1, at 8 p.m. in the Frank Center’s W.H. Shipley Recital Hall with “Death of the Romantics: A Musical Walk Through the Changing World of European Art in the Late 19th and Early 20th Centuries.”

The performance will feature Joseph Regan, tenor; Melanie Regan, mezzo-soprano and adjunct music professor; and Joseph Satava, pianist. The repertoire will include opera arias and art song selections that examine the ways in which the upheaval of the Gilded Age radically changed how artists thought about and expressed the meaning of life, death, love, and spirituality during this tumultuous time in European history.
