SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV — Shepherd University’s M.B.A. program honored one of its alumni during a June 16 reception. Jennifer Hess was awarded the first annual Distinguished M.B.A. Alumni Award.
The award is given to a graduate who distinguished him or herself academically and professionally and who has provided service to the community and demonstrated leadership skills. Hess completed her M.B.A. in health administration in 2013 with a 4.0 G.P.A. She served as the first president of the Student M.B.A. Advisory Council and co-chaired and served as master of ceremonies for the 2012 senatorial debate between Sen. Joe Manchin and his opponent John Raese that took place at Shepherd.
Since graduating from Shepherd, Hess has earned a master’s degree from Johns Hopkins University in biotechnology of health science. On August 1, Hess began medical school at Marshall University with a goal of pursing a specialty in neurology. Before entering medical school Hess worked as an adjunct professor in health promotion and exercise science at Shepherd and as an exercise physiologist and health and fitness education specialist at Berkeley Medical Center in Martinsburg. She previously coordinated the Martinsburg Rotary Club’s annual wellness screening and volunteered for the Healthy Smiles Mission of Mercy free dental clinics that took place in Berkeley County in 2008 and 2009.
