Shepherd University’s George Tyler Moore Center for the Study of the Civil War will present “Greetings from Gettysburg,” a book discussion and signing with David R. Craig on Thursday, November 15, at 7 p.m. at Shepherdstown’s War Memorial Building, 102 E. German St., Shepherdstown. Craig will discuss the book he co-authored, “Greetings from Gettysburg,” which includes 160 historic images from the Gettysburg Battlefield. The book will be available for purchase by cash or check after the discussion. This event is free and open to the public.

Craig was an educator for 34 years in Maryland’s Harford County Public Schools, where he taught middle school social studies and served as an assistant principal. He has served in six elected positions in Maryland—on the Havre de Grace City Council, as the town’s mayor, as a Maryland state delegate and state senator, and as Harford County executive. He served as secretary of the Maryland Department of Planning and is currently executive director of the Maryland WWI Centennial Commission, which was established by the governor in 2015 to give the state’s residents and its visitors a way to remember, commemorate, and learn about the meaning of World War I and the role of Marylanders during that time.
