SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV — Shepherd University’s Department of Contemporary Art and Theater announces its annual Art Market on Friday, December 8, from 3-7 p.m. in the Center for Contemporary Arts Phase I, rooms 112, 113, 114, and 115. Students, faculty, and alumni from all disciplines within the department will be selling original artwork—just in time for the holidays. This event is free and open to the public. Cash and check are preferred, though many student artists will be able to accept credit cards.

“You will find everything you are looking for at this year’s Art Market, including one-of-a-kind drawings, paintings, printmaking, mixed media, sculpture, handmade jewelry, photography, note cards, postcards, and surprises galore,” said Rhonda Smith, department chair. “The theater program will provide a photo booth complete with costumes from Contemporary American Theater Festival productions for photo opportunities.”

The Art Market offers the public a chance to learn more about what Shepherd’s nationally accredited art program offers students and to do some holiday shopping.

“I encourage everyone to take time to explore both buildings that make up the Center for Contemporary Arts,” Smith said. “Student and faculty ambassadors will be pleased to answer any questions about our programs and facilities, and of course all those selling work are eager to talk about what they have done.”

Parking will be available beginning at 3 p.m. in the lot adjacent to the building and in H lot, which is in front of Printz and Dunlop halls and can be accessed via University Drive. Guests may also park in any nearby lot after 4 p.m. without a Shepherd permit.
