CarolynAlbright2016Dr. Carolyn Albright

Dr. Carolyn Albright has been appointed assistant professor of nursing in the Department of Nursing Education. Albright received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Rhode Island College in Providence, a Master of Science in Nursing from Medical College of Virginia/Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, and a Doctor of Nursing Practice from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh. Albright has been an instructor at the University of Rhode Island in Kingston; Hagerstown Community College in Hagerstown, Maryland; Carroll Community College in Westminster, Maryland; and Hood College in Frederick, Maryland.

burkerCara Burker

Cara Burker has been appointed clinical faculty in nursing education/project coordinator CHOICES grant in the Department of Nursing Education. Burker received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Shepherd University, and a Master of Science in Nursing from Towson University in Maryland. Burker was a clinical nurse educator at Shepherd from fall 2013 to spring 2015.

carlsonDr. Rachel Carlson

Dr. Rachel Carlson has been appointed visiting assistant professor of music in the Department of Music. Carlson received a Bachelor of Music in vocal performance from the University of Maryland, College Park, a Master of Music in choral conducting from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, and a Doctor of Musical Arts in music from the University of Maryland, College Park. Prior to coming to Shepherd, Carlson was at the University of Maryland.

clineCraig Cline

Craig Cline has been appointed assistant professor of social work/director of social work program in the Department of Social Work. Cline received a Bachelor of Social Work from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, and a Master of Social Work from West Virginia University. Cline has worked for West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources Child Protective Service in Romney and the Frederick County Department of Social Services Senior Child Protective Services Worker and Family Services Supervisor in Winchester, Virginia. He worked as an adjunct professor in the Department of Social Work at Shepherd during the fall of 2015.

correllJesse Correll

Jesse Correll has been appointed lecturer/assistant football coach/athletics academic advisor in the athletic program. Correll received a Bachelor of Science in commercial recreation and tourism, recreation and leisure studies and a Master of Arts in college student development and administration from Shepherd University. Correll was previously a wide receivers coach at Shepherd and also coached at Clarion University in Pennsylvania and Stevenson University in Owings Mill, Maryland.

danielsSamuel Daniels

Samuel Daniels has been appointed assistant football coach/athletic assistant in the athletic program. Daniels received a Bachelor of Science in sports management/business from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia, and a Master of education from Frostburg State University in Maryland. Prior to coming to Shepherd, Daniels was at Frostburg State and at the Apprentice School in Newport News, Virginia.

fontanaTerresa Fontana

Terresa Fontana has been appointed visiting assistant professor of education in the Department of Education. Fontana received a Bachelor of Science in education from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, and a Master of Arts in education from the University of Phoenix in Arizona. Prior to coming to Shepherd, Fontana was at Kaplan University in Davenport, Iowa.

Dr. Kelly Watson Huffer has been appointed assistant professor of nursing education in the Department of Nursing Education. Watson Huffer received an Associate of Science in Nursing from Frederick Community College in Maryland, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Maryland Baltimore County, and a Master of Science in adult and geriatric nurse practitioner and Doctor of Nursing Practice from the University of Maryland School of Nursing in Baltimore. Prior to coming to Shepherd, Watson Huffer was at Hood College in Frederick, Maryland.

Bryan Lewis

Bryan Lewis has been appointed assistant men’s basketball coach/lecturer in the athletic program. Lewis received a Bachelor of Science in health and physical education and a Master of Education in Health and Physical Education from Frostburg State University in Maryland. Lewis was previously at Frostburg State.

martzDr. William Benjamin Martz

Dr. William Benjamin Martz has been appointed chair of business administration and dean for business school development in the Department of Business Administration/Family and Consumer Sciences. Martz received a Bachelor of Business Administration in marketing from the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia, and a Master of Science in management information systems and a Doctor of Philosophy in business administration from the University of Arizona in Tucson. Martz was previously at Northern Kentucky University in Highland Heights; California State University in Chico; and the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs.

Erin Neve has been appointed assistant professor of photography in the Department of Contemporary Art and Theater. Neve received a Bachelor of Arts in English, a Master of Arts in philosophy, and a Master of Arts Education in photography from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, and a Master of Fine Arts in photography from the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. Prior to coming to Shepherd, Neve was in San Antonio, Texas, at the Art Institute of San Antonio, Northwest Vista College, and the University of Incarnate Word.

reichChristina Reich

Christina Reich has been appointed clinical lecturer/academic advisor in the Department of Teaching Learning, and Instructional Resources. Reich received a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from University of Maryland, Baltimore County, and a Master of Arts in college student development and administration from Shepherd. Reich was previously at Hagerstown Community College in Maryland. She has been an academic advising assistant at Shepherd since 2014.

Dr. Elizabeth Rini has been appointed assistant professor of nursing in the Department of Nursing Education. Rini received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Master of Science in Nursing from George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia, and a Doctor of Philosophy in nursing from West Virginia University. Rini was previously at Shenandoah University in Winchester, Virginia, and at Blue Ridge Community and Technical College in Martinsburg.

Dr. Elvira Sanatullova-Allison has been appointed associate professor of education and chair of the Department of Education. Sanatullova-Allison received a Bachelor of Arts in French/German and foreign language education from Uzbekistan State University of World Languages in Tashkent, a Master of Arts in modern languages and literatures from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and a Doctor of Philosophy in education-administration, curriculum, and instruction from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Sanatullova-Allison was previously at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater; St. Lawrence University in Canton, New York; Chatham University in Pittsburgh; State University of New York-Potsdam; and Concordia University-Nebraska in Seward.

Yin Star has been appointed clinical faculty/director of study abroad. Star received a Bachelor of Arts in sociology and psychology from Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas, and a Master of Public and International Affairs from the University of Pittsburgh. Prior to coming to Shepherd, Yin was at American Public University System in Charles Town.

Dr. Alexander Upward has been appointed visiting assistant professor of history in the Department of History. Upward received a Bachelor of Arts in history and a Master of Arts in history from St. Catharine’s College, University of Cambridge, England, and a Doctor of Philosophy in history from West Virginia University. Upward previously taught at West Virginia Wesleyan College in Buckhannon and at West Virginia University.
