Welcome!
Welcome to Shepherd University's Professional Education Unit! We are pleased to welcome visiting teams from the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE), the West Virginia Department of Education (WVDE) and the Higher Education Planning Commission (HEPC) for a Joint Accreditation and Program Review campus visit.

From its very beginning, Shepherd University has prepared outstanding teachers that serve the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia, Maryland, Virginia, and beyond. The accreditation process is an opportunity for self-study, reflection, and actualizing our conceptual framework, "Teacher as Reflective Problem Solver."

The results of the Joint Accreditation Visit will enable the Professional Education Unit of Shepherd University to grow and to continue to improve our preparation of teacher candidates, the performance of our programs and unit, and enhance our partnerships with the community of school districts and the P-12 learners we serve.
