Two Rivers Chamber Orchestra

Upcoming Two Rivers Concerts
The Two Rivers Chamber Orchestra is West Virginia’s newest professional orchestra. Founded by The Friends of Music, the 2RCO made its debut on Saturday, March 15, 2008, in the Frank Arts Center Theater of Shepherd University. This orchestra is comprised of many of the finest musicians in the Baltimore-Washington area, including many faculty members of the Shepherd University Music Department. The inaugural concert featured Dr. Scott Beard performing the Mozart Piano Concerto in A, as well as Beethoven’s Symphony No.1, Rossini’s Barber of Seville Overture and John Rutter’s Five Meditations for Orchestra.
The 2008/2009 Season includes performances on Saturday, September 27th, 2008 and March 7, 2009 at 8PM. The September concert includes Beethoven’s Egmont Overture, Op. 84, Rodrigo’s Concierto de Aranjuez, featuring internationally known guitarist Bill Feasley, Hungarian Dances Nos. 5-7 of Johannes Brahms, Mozart’s Symphony No. 40 in G Minor and the regional premiere of the Márquez Dánzon #2. The March Concert will feature Anne Munro and Caroline Marks on the beautiful Mozart Concerto for Flute & Harp in C Major, K. 299, and will also include Mark O’Connor’s Appalachia Waltz, Strauss’s Die Fledermaus Overture and Mendelssohn’s Symphony #3 in A Minor, Op. 56, the “Scottish.” Each concert features an outstanding guest soloist, staples of the classical chamber orchestra repertoire and at least one new, beautiful or unusual piece, so that each program will have something for every listener, regardless of age, education or prior exposure to classical music.
