Upcoming Preparatory Orchestra Concerts and Rehearsals

The Shepherd Preparatory Orchestra is a student orchestra in residence at Shepherd University. It provides opportunities for over 70 local string and wind students from elementary through college age to play in a youth orchestra of outstanding caliber. Younger string students may audition for the Junior String Orchestra and advanced string students may audition for the Senior Orchestra.

In alliance with the Shepherd University Department of Music, area string students work with collegiate level string, wind and percussion students, affording them performance experience with string and full orchestral repertoire. Because of past and present support from Shepherd University, The Arts and Humanities Alliance of Jefferson County, and The Shepherdstown Rotary, the orchestra has continued to grow and has created a needed musical outlet for area students that did not exist for string players before the orchestra began in 1998.

Two orchestra concerts are presented for the public each year.
