Spring 2014 Composition Recital

The Shepherd University Music Department will present a concert featuring the work of student composers on Monday, April 21, at 3:15 p.m. in the Frank Arts Center McCoy Rehearsal Hall. The performance is free and open to the public.

The recital will highlight a variety of completed works and works in progress by talented young composers in the Shepherd University Music Department. Students whose compositions will be performed are Natalie Ahearn, John Tyler Arnold, Louise Campbell, Anthony Farris, Ian Karraker, Ryan Stewart, and Gregory Woodward.

Works include "Air for Violin and Piano" by Natalie Ahearn, featuring Ian Karraker on violin and the composer at the piano; "In Visions" by Ryan Stewart, performed by the Men's Choir; "Introspection No. 2" by Louise Campbell, played by the composer on marimba; "13 Across" by Ian Karraker; "Saxophone Quartet Movement 1" by Anthony Farris, with Matt Lind on soprano sax, Hansu Sung on alto sax, Will Lopez on tenor sax and Wayne Hawkins on baritone sax; "Prometheus" by Greg Woodward, featuring baritone Andrew Seaman and pianist Nathan Arch; and "String Quartet No. 2, Movements I and III" by John Tyler Arnold, performed by violinists Ryan Stewart and Ian Karraker, Adrielle Mills on viola, and Liz Traversie on cello.
