The Shepherd University Department of Music will present its annual Honors Recital on Sunday, May 2nd at 2:30 p.m. at the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts in Hagerstown, Maryland. Selected from hundreds of performances throughout the year, the Honors Recital showcases the finest of Shepherd Universityss student solo and ensemble performances from the past year.
Selections include Danzas Cubanas by Ignacio Cervantes played by guitar trio of Matthew Alt, Ahmet Akaydin and Paul Campbell, "Lost in the Wilderness" from Children of Eden sung by tenor Mark Adelsberger, Fantasia by Villa-Lobos played by saxophonist Ryan Yost, Sonata, Op. 10, No. 3 by Beethoven performed by Trevor Rowland on piano, Sonata, Op. 120, No. 1 in f minor by Brahms played by clarinetist Marie Crenwelge, Sonata for Trumpet and piano by Eric Ewazen with Laura Sterner on trumpet, "Steal Me Sweet Thief" from The Old Man and The Thief by Gian Carlo Menotti sung by soprano Jaely Chamberlain, "Mein Herr Marquis" (Adele's Laughing Song) from Die Fledermaus sung by soprano Lawren Hill, the "Flower Duet" from Lakme sung by Chamberlain and Hill, and the Horn Concerto No. 3, K. 447 by Mozart played by Alex Sacco on horn accompanied by Trevor Rowland on piano.
The Washington County Museum of Fine Arts and the Shepherd University Department of Music have collaborated on a series of recital presentations, "Music at Shepherd." The series is designed to feature faculty and student performances from the music department on the long-established Sunday recital programs presented by the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts.
