Shepherd University Music Composition Recital
The Shepherd University Music Department will present a concert featuring the work of student composers on Monday, April 16th at 3:15 p.m. in the Frank Arts Center Shipley Recital Hall. The performance is free and open to the public.
The recital will highlight a variety of works and works in progress by talented young composers in the Shepherd University Music Department. The program includes Walker Williams's Wild Geese, with The Wild Geese Singers conducted by Daniel Plante; Polite Conversation by Chris Hume, featuring Chris Hume on guitar, Kaitlin Lockwood on flute, Kaziah White on clarinet, Ryan Stewart on violin, and Elizabeth Traversie on cello; Ryan Stewart performing his Violin Partita no. 1; Tyler Arnold's Violin Trio, performed by Carrie Holter on violin, Laura Sterner on trumpet and Heather Helton on piano; Kaziah White's Luminiferous Ether, with Blaine Gibson on vibraphone and Cody Rausch on crotales, and Missa Sanctae Mariae (Mass of St. Mary) written for the choir and congregation of St. Mary Catholic Church in Hagerstown, MD; and Gregory Woodward's The Storm, conducted by Ross Semler, with Ashley Reimnitz on flute, Carrie Holter on violin, Lucas Hogan on alto saxophone, Ian Karriker on violin, Alvaro Silva on trumpet, Liz Traversie on cello, and Nathan Biedzinski, Cody Rausch and Christina Oliver on percussion.
