Music department honors recital planned for March 6

SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV — A select group of student musicians and ensembles from Shepherd University will perform in the annual Honors Recital on Sunday, March 6, at 2 p.m. at the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts, 401 Museum Dr., Hagerstown, Maryland. The recital is free and open to the public.

The students performing were selected and nominated from the numerous recitals, juries, and other performances at Shepherd each semester. The program will include works by American and European composers and will feature solo and ensemble works for voice, piano, guitar, flute, viola, and percussion.

The selected performers are David Browne, guitar, and Adrielle Mills, viola, both of Martinsburg; Louise Campbell, percussion, and Ashleigh Stottlemyer, horn, both of Frederick, Maryland; Melissa McKay, flute, Monrovia, Maryland; Chase Remsburg, saxophone, Boonsboro, Maryland; Hannah Wardell, mezzo-soprano, Ellicott City, Maryland; Lucas Peterson, piano, Rockville, Maryland; Matthew Jefferson, piano, Jefferson, Maryland; James Townsend, piano, Romney; and Andrew Oswinkle, guitar, Baltimore.

The recital will also include a performance by the Shepherd Jazz Combo featuring Mary Granofsky, piano, Franklin; Dan Dunn, bass, Ranson; and Sawyer Gaydon, drums, Martinsburg.

This is the 14th year the recital has taken place at the museum and the 16th year the music department at Shepherd has sponsored a recital to honor its outstanding student performers.
