Minutes
Special Classified Council Meeting
October 10, 2001

Present: Brenda Feltner, Cheryl Layton, Steve Parrotte, Paul Schwan, Paula Scott, Dan Starliper, Agnes Tabler, and Anna Mary Walsh.

Anna Mary Walsh, chair, called the meeting to order.

The main purpose of this special meeting was to discuss adding other retirement plans to the higher education system. Dan Starliper discussed the two types of retirement plans that we currently have. One plan is a "Defined Benefit Plan" which is what the old State Teacheršs Retirement plan is. The second plan is called a "Defined Contribution Plan" which is the current TIAA-CREF retirement plan. The only thing that counts with this plan is how much money is in your account.

After discussion, it was M/S/ and unanimously Passed "that we send a resolution to the State ACCE group saying that Shepherd College supports TIAA-CREF as our sole retirement plan."

There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 9:10 a.m.

Respectfully submitted,

Brenda J. Feltner
Classified Employees' Council Secretary
