Academic
Support
Shepherd University provides a Study Center, located
in Knutti Hall, Room 114, which houses the Peer Tutoring
Service and Writing Center. These services are facilitated
by the Office of Student Academic Support Services,
and they can be reached at 304-876-5400. All tutors
are students who have been nominated by a faculty
member, have a 3.0 GPA in their subject area and go
through a training session before being permitted
to tutor. Students who tutor in the Writing Center
are usually English majors and must successfully complete
a course/practicum offered by the English Department.
Faculty members also staff the Study Center and are
available for assistance in the following areas: study
and test taking skills, time management and mathematics.
All services provided by the Study Center are available
free of charge. |
