  • HEATH lists national organizations providing scholarships for persons with disabilities (e.g., International Kiwanis Club, Rotary Club, Elks Club, Lions Club International, the National Association of American Business Clubs, Electronic Industries Foundation, Central Intelligence Agency, etc.).   • Charlotte W. Newcome Foundation offers Newcome Scholarships for Physically Disabled Students with financial need. Contact 35 Park Place, Princeton, NJ 08542-6918, or 609-924-7022. 

  • C.R. Newton Company awards $2,000 to a student with a disability whose GPA is at least 3.0. Contact the company at 1575 South Beretania St., Suite 101, Honolulu, HI 96826, or by phone at 808-949-8389.  Also ask about this scholarship at http://www.crnewton.com/contact.htm

  • Foundation for Physical Therapy sponsors the Sunrise Medical Scholarship for Disabled Students for those preparing for careers in physical therapy. Contact 1055 North Fairfax St., Suite 350, Alexandria, VA 22314, or by phone at 703-584-5914.

  • The new Nationsbank Scholarships for People with Disabilities fund distributes $100,000 annually to qualified high school graduating seniors, four-year college or university undergraduates, or students attending a technical or vocational school.  Ask about these scholarships at http://www.bankofamerica.com/contact/data/contact.cfm?lob=foundation.

    ALSO:

    The NORDSTROM SCHOLARSHIP sponsors five awards of $2000 each to current high school seniors or undergraduates with disabilities who are enrolled in or have been accepted into majors in business at four-year higher education institutions.

    The ELA FOUNDATION FELLOWSHIP of $2000 is aimed at female graduate students of US universities or colleges who have disabilities and are studying, researching or writing on disability policy.

    The NIKE SCHOLARSHIP of $2500 is awarded to students with disabilities enrolled in undergraduate programs focusing on sports or recreation management, marketing, medicine or retailing sports or recreation equipment at a US four-year college or university.

    VENTURE CLUBS of the AMERICAS offers VENTURE CLUBS STUDENT AID AWARDS from $100 to $1,500 for persons with physical disabilities. Contact them at 1616 Walnut St., Suite 700, Philadelphia, PA 19103, or at 215-732-0512.
