Masterworks Chorale announces January 12 auditions for spring concert

SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV — Shepherd University’s Masterworks Chorale will hold auditions for the spring 2014 performance of Stravinsky’s “Symphony of Psalms” on Monday, January 12, at 7:30 p.m., in the Frank Center McCoy Rehearsal Hall.

Masterworks Chorale is under the direction of Dr. Erik Reid Jones, associate professor of music and director of choral activities. Masterworks will perform “Symphony of Psalms” with full orchestra and guest soloists: soprano Brooke Evers, mezzo soprano Melanie Regan, tenor Joe Regan, and baritone Rob Tudor. Also on the program will be Persichetti’s “Celebrations for Wind Ensemble and Choir,” Howard Hanson’s “Song of Democracy,” and Aaron Copland’s “The Promise of Living.”

The 130-member Masterworks Chorale, comprised of Shepherd vocal students and members from the surrounding community, meets Mondays at 7:30 p.m. in the Frank Center rehearsal hall. There will be only one performance of Stravinsky’s “Symphony of Psalms” on Saturday, April 25 at 8 p.m. at the Frank Center Theater.
