Information for Shepherd Students

Public Services

Lending library materials is one of the primary functions of the Scarborough Library. Our goals are to ensure that library users find the materials they need in the correct location, and to give knowledgeable and friendly assistance in all public services.

Loan Periods:

Books and other selected materials:

Books: 28 days
Government Documents and Bestsellers: 28 days
Audio visual materials and Curriculum Library: 10 days
Periodicals 1 day
Items that do not circulate include reference books, rare books and bound periodicals.

Items must be returned by the due date or renewed. Renewals are allowed provided that the item does not have a hold or recall. Materials may be renewed online, by phone or in person (304) 876-5421. The Library blocks further borrowing by any patron who fails to return materials and takes steps to recover items or to secure replacement costs.

Your Shepherd University ID (Rambler) card is your library card. You are asked to present it each time you check out.

Materials may be returned to the Public Services desk or deposited in the book drop when the building is closed.

Interlibrary Loan

Interlibrary loan allows us to borrow books and journal articles not owned by Shepherd University from other institutions. Please see the Scarborough Library Interlibrary Loan page for more information about Interlibrary Loan service.
