Library Technology Student Assistant Jobs and Internships
The Library Technology Department is always looking for student assistants. Working in the Library Technology Department is a great way to gain valuable work experience and learn professional work ethics. The positions listed below are for students with Federal Work Study. Students without Federal Work Study may also apply; depending on the department's needs and the student's qualifications, students without Federal Work Study will also be considered.
Internships are available in the Library Technology Department. Though these positions are not posted and not paid, the internships consist of extensive projects supervised by Library staff. For more information, contact (304.876.5379).

- Student Assistant- Multimedia
Multimedia student assistants work on various smaller projects creating graphics for the web site, taking photos and working with other media formats. The Multimedia student assistants are primarily responsible for creating the Library Special Headers.
Qualifications: experience using Photoshop or other image/photo editing software OR with podcasting OR using digital cameras.
Because of the responsibilities of the position and experience needed, this is a higher paid position.
- Student Assistant- Hardware
Hardware student assistants help maintain the computers and peripherals throughout the Library. They are responsible for evaluating the student lab images, troubleshooting computer and basic network problems and helping staff and patrons with hardware and software problems.
Qualifications: familiarity with computers, the Windows operating system, MSO 2003 and 2007 and Symantec Ghost.
Because of the responsibilities of the position and experience needed, this is a higher paid position.
- Student Assistant- Computer lab support
Computer lab assistants are responsible for helping patrons with basic computer hardware and software problems such as helping with MSO and unjamming printers.
Qualifications: familiarity with computers and MSO 2003 or 2007.
