Request Materials from other Libraries through Interlibrary Loan

Interlibrary loan is a free service provided by Scarborough Library to assist students, faculty, and staff of Shepherd University in obtaining books, articles, and AV materials that are not available in the library's collection.
Before requesting a book or AV item through interlibrary loan, please check the Library Catalog to see if we own the item.
When books or AV materials arrive, patrons will be notified by email. Materials will be held at the Public Services desk under the patron's last name. Unless otherwise noted, books may be renewed by calling or emailing the Interlibrary Loan Coordinator, Theresa Smith ( tsmith@shepherd.edu or 304-876-5217) at least three days before the due date.
Before requesting an article, please check the Full-Text Journal Listing (located on the Library's web page) to see if the article can be printed from one of our databases, or if the journal is available in our Library.
While many libraries send articles electronically, resulting in a turnaround time of sometimes as little as 24 hours, other libraries choose to use traditional mail service which could result in a one to two week waiting period, so please order materials with that in mind.
When an article arrives, it can either be sent electronically to the patron's email address, or picked up at the Public Services desk, as determined by the patron on the request form.
