SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV — The Shepherd University education fraternity, Kappa Delta Pi, is sponsoring a showing of the documentary “TEACH” on Thursday, March 3, at 12:15 p.m. and at 5 p.m. in the Robert C. Byrd Center for Congressional History and Education Auditorium. Anyone who is interested in becoming a teacher is welcome to attend. The event is free and open to the public. The 2013 film, by Oscar-winning director David Guggenheim and hosted by Queen Latifah, follows four teachers in four different classrooms througout an entire school year. With the theme it’s not a job, it’s a mission, ”TEACH” tries to give prospective teachers an idea of what the profession is like. The film also attempts to show what it takes to be a great teacher and encourages audiences to support educators. A “TEACH” website offers resources for students interested in becoming teachers, parents willing to offer support, and teachers looking for opportunities to collaborate and mentor.
