Founders Day celebrated in October

Outstanding Alumna of the Year Holly McCall ’04, SGA President Sneha Reddy, and President Mary J.C. Hendrix ’74, gave remarks at Founders Day, focusing of Shepherd’s past, present, and future.

Founders Day was celebrated October 6 with a parade led by the Ram Band from McMurran Hall to West Campus. Students, staff, and faculty joined the march to the Potomac Place courtyard for a short program featuring President Mary J.C. Hendrix ’74, Outstanding Alumna of the Year Holly McCall ’04, and SGA President Sneha Reddy who talked about Shepherd’s past, present, and future.

Programs celebrating anniversary years carried banners in the parade. Marking anniversaries were Teacher Education – 1872; Contemporary Art and Theater – 1912; Business Administration – 1947; Bachelor of Science in Nursing – 1986; Division of Graduate Studies – 2002; Master of Arts, Curriculum and Instruction – 2003; Intensive English Language Program – 2016; and TRiO’s Upward Bound Program – 2017.

Snacks were donated by Mountaineer Popcorn and Orr’s Farm Market.

The Ram Band led the marchers from McMurran Hall to Potomac Place for a Founders Day program.

J.C. the ram joined the Founders Day parade from East Campus to West Campus.
