Becky Zimmer moved to North Carolina in 1998.  She received her bachelor’s degree in Biology from Elon University in 2002, and worked in that field for several years.  She is currently a graduate student at the University of North Carolina-Wilmington, working on a master’s in History.  She is studying common Confederate soldiers.  Included in these studies is her thesis, tentatively entitled: Uncommon Valor, Common Soldier: Edward Hall Armstrong, Company G, Third North Carolina.  While on our staff this summer, she will help facilitate our Gettysburg:  Retreat and Pursuit  summer seminar, and pursue research beneficial to her master’s thesis studies.

Emily, resident of Hagerstown, MD, and Junior at Furman University in Greenville, SC, is pursuing a double major in History and Spanish; her academic interest interests include
Latin American civilization and history, ancient history, and American history during the periods of the Revolutionary War, and history, ancient history, and American history during the periods of the Revolutionary War, the Civil War, and the 20th century.  Upon completion of her Bachelor’s degree, Emily is interested in the Peace Corps, museum work in the United States or Europe, or pursuing a Master’s degree in either History or Spanish.  While on summer staff, she will assist our Gettysburg:  Retreat and Pursuit  summer seminar.
