Master of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction
The Master of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction is designed for working teachers with current certification. The MA in Curriculum and Instruction is a 33 hour program with 15 hours in pedagogy, fifteen hours in a content area strand, and a three-hour action research

Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT)
The Master of Arts in Teaching, a degree program that is designed to lead to initial teacher certification, is currently scheduled to begin in Spring, 2006, contingent of final approval by the West Virginia Board of Education. Eligible students may select one of the following certification areas: art, biology, general science, English,
Family and Consumer Sciences, health, physical education, mathematics, chemistry, social studies, or elementary education.

College Student Development & Administration (CSDA)
The Master of Arts in College Student Development and Administration is designed for individuals who desire a career in Student Affairs or Enrollment Management at 2- or 4-year institutions of higher education. This 36 credit hour program with courses in the evenings and on weekends provides interplay between traditional classroom experiences and experiential learning for both full- and part-time students.

Master of Music, Music Education (MMME)
The two year master's program in music education at Shepherd University offers a high level of specialization in a program designed with the current music educator in mind. By taking only one course per semester and working in the summers, the program can be completed in two years. All students take a nine-hour core which includes history, theory and research. Also required of all masters students is nine hours in education, including two education courses and 3 hours of practicum (including portfolio review). Finally, students choose an emphasis in elementary, choral, band, or orchestra and complete the degree with nine credits in their area of specialization. A recital/project or a thesis is required as the culminating event. These can include conducting or accompanying performances.
