Admissions Requirements

Admission to the MBA Program
Candidates for regular admission to the MBA program must have the following:

• An undergraduate GPA of 2.75 or higher
• * OR for students with less than a 2.75 GPA, one of the following standardized tests:
• Graduate Record Exam (GRE): 
440 Verbal and 560 Quantitative (if taken prior to August 1, 2011) and 149 Verbal and 146 Quantitative (if taken on or after August 1, 2011)
• Miller Analogy Test (MAT): 390
• Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT): 400
• Business Major Field Test (MFAT): a score of 153 (51st Percentile)

   

• Additionally, all students must also submit the following:

   

  * A resume
  * Two letters of recommendation
  * A letter of intent that describes the how the student envisions using the MBA degree to enhance their personal and career goals.

 

MBA Foundations Program
Because some foundational experience in business and economics is crucial to success in the Shepherd M.B.A. program, students admitted to the M.B.A. must meet three content area prerequisites: Accounting, Statistics, and Economics. Foundational courses at the undergraduate level must have been taken within the last seven years with a grade of "B" or higher.

 

Applicants who lack this undergraduate course work can fulfill the foundational requirements in one of three ways:

 

1. Taking the appropriate graduate foundations course work at the graduate level (online MBA courses: these do not count toward the M.B.A.).

 

2. Passing the appropriate CLEP test(s).

 

3. Submitting a portfolio of work-related experience and requesting an evaluation of academic course work by the M.B.A. coordinator. Applicants may begin the M.B.A. program while completing their prerequisite courses.

 

Foundational courses must be completed within the first 9 credits of the M. B. A. program or within the first year of enrollment, whichever comes first.
