Gay Men’s Chorus of Washington, D.C., to perform March 22

SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV — The Shepherd University’s Office of Multicultural Affairs and Performing Arts Series will present the Gay Men’s Chorus of Washington, D.C. (GMCW) Saturday, March 22 at 8 p.m. at the Frank Center theater.

GMCW will perform its new program “Passion.” It is an evening for all romantics and features beloved works that have touched the heart and stirred the passion of generations, with songs ranging from Dolly Parton’s “I Will Always Love You” and the Righteous Brothers’ “Unchained Melody” to songs from Broadway and opera including “Miss Saigon” and “La Traviata.”

Now it its 33rd season, the GMCW is dedicated to both artistic excellence and social justice education. It has more than 275 singing members, two select vocal ensembles, 100 support volunteers, more than 800 subscribers, 500 donors, and an annual audience of more than 12,000 people. The chorus has performed at the White House, the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Carnegie Hall, Symphony Hall in Boston, presidential inauguration celebrations, and more.
