SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV — The Shepherd University Foundation received a gift of almost $40,000 made anonymously to the Shepherd Success Fund. Executive Vice President Monica Lingenfelter accepted the donation on behalf of Shepherd University.
Created by Shepherd University President Mary J.C. Hendrix and her husband, Charles Craft, with a significant gift through the Shepherd University Foundation, the Shepherd Success Fund provides support for the university’s future by funding initiatives critical for training the next generation. The fund has already helped contribute to body cameras for campus police officers and the Veterans to Agriculture training program at Tabler Farm.
The fund may be used to challenge other private donors to support university initiatives across the campus. The university has designated specific programs and projects that qualify for matching funds from the Shepherd Success Fund. These programs are working with staff and volunteers to find private donors to match gifts from the fund, and the challenges have already inspired dozens of new private gifts totaling nearly $98,000 in new contributions. Some of the programs designated for matching gifts include the Department of Nursing, Scarborough Library, Ram Gridiron Club, the Ram Band, and the Applied Business internship program.
