SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV — The Shepherd University Foundation is taking part in Amazon’s new philanthropic program to raise fund for Shepherd students.

Aimed at raising funds for 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations, AmazonSmile offers a simple and automatic way for its customers to support their favorite charitable organizations every time they shop, at no cost to the customer.

The Foundation is listed among AmazonSmile’s registered organizations, for which tens of millions of Amazon products are eligible for donations. All eligible purchases will result in a 0.5 percent donation to the Foundation for Amazon users who wish to select it as their preferred charitable organization.

To make a donation to the Foundation, visit smile.amazon.com and select “Shepherd University Foundation” from among the list of registered organizations. Amazon will remember customers’ selections via their Amazon accounts, and then every eligible purchase the customers make will result in a donation to the Foundation.

For more than 50 years, the Shepherd University Foundation has strengthened the work and service of Shepherd University. The Foundation receives and administers private funds for student scholarships, academic and program support, and faculty excellence awards, as well as other university initiatives such as campus renewal and beautification. Located on the campus of Shepherd University in historic McMurran Hall, the office houses a professional staff of five and is led by an independent volunteer board of directors. The organization’s success is a direct result of its generous donors who have helped to make a difference in the lives of thousands of Shepherd students over the decades.
