The National Constitution Center

In April, the Scarborough Society’s annual spring bus excursion traveled to Philadelphia, PA, to visit the National Constitution Center. The outing featured the center’s main exhibit entitled The Story of We the People and a theatrical performance of “Freedom Rising,” and attendees delighted in posing with life-size bronze statues of the Founding Fathers in Signers’ Hall. Dr. Ray Smock of Shepherd University’s Robert C. Byrd Center for Legislative Studies, who led the research used to create the exhibit, treated guests to an insiders’ talk about the authenticity of the 42 statues depicted, effectively bringing to life the final day of the Constitutional Convention in the Assembly Room of the Pennsylvania State House, now known as Independence Hall.
