PURPOSE AND BENEFITS
Purpose
The Scarborough Society's purpose is to endow and strengthen the Shepherd University library system by generating annual membership dues to enhance collections and technological services to the University and the communities it serves.

* Annual recognition by display of members' engraved names on the Wall of Honor, located in the Ruth Scarborough Library's reading room.
* Library cards with special privileges including full borrowing ability and access to restricted archival collections and all research data bases.
* Special invitations to Scarborough Library Lecture Series, receptions, dinners, art exhibits, and musical events.
* Reservation privileges for seminar rooms.
* Complimentary attendance for technology seminars offered by faculty and staff.

Primary Mission
Providing new sources of supplemental funding for the Shepherd University Scarborough Library system through a membership society dedicated to enhancing its collections, programs, and technologies.
Values
* Function as a self-sustaining group, minimize the work requirements of the Shepherd University Foundation office.
* Coordinate society fundraising activities with the Foundation staff to avoid any impact on their fundraising efforts.
* Support the library staff as requested without interfering with their responsibilities and duties.
* Provide stewardship to the member dues and donations.
* Serve our society membership with opportunities beyond fundraising.
* Conduct our affairs with the highest levels of integrity and respect for our constituencies.
