| SCARBOROUGH SOCIETY GALA The sixth annual Scarborough Society Gala, held August 17 at the Bavarian Inn, Shepherdstown, netted $17,100 to support the activities of the Shepherd University Scarborough Library. A full house of close to 250 invited guests attended the black-tie event. The theme for this year's event, "In the Garden" was based on a trilogy by best selling author, Nora Roberts. The presenting sponsors for the event were BB&T Wealth Management, represented by Rod and Lynn Frye, and Jefferson Security Bank, represented by Steve and Kathy Morris. The Scarborough Gala is the major annual social and fundraising event of the Scarborough Society of Shepherd University. The society of over 160 members has hosted the event for the past six years in cooperation with the Shepherd University Foundation. All proceeds from the gala support and enhance library programs and facilities to benefit the Shepherd University community. Past galas have paid homage to such literary figures as Ernest Hemingway, William Shakespeare, Graham Greene, and Frances Hodgson Bennett. A highlight of the summer season, past galas have been very successful, attended by more than 200 Scarborough members, guests and friends. The event has raised more than $75,000 in the past six years. |
