Why do we need the Shepherd University Foundation?
The Foundation exists to receive private donations for the benefit of Shepherd University. Our mission is to ensure educational opportunities for deserving students and enhance the academic excellence of Shepherd University.
How does the Foundation support Shepherd University?
During the 2007-08 academic year, the Foundation will provide over $1 million in student scholarships and support for innovative programs and technology.
How do I or my organization become a Foundation member?
A gift in any amount qualifies you for membership in the Shepherd University Foundation. Gifts are tax deductible and may be made by cash, check, or credit card. Significant tax savings may result from contributing appreciated assets such as stock or mutual funds.
May my contribution be designated?
Any contribution may be designated to any of the named endowed funds. Donors contribute to our general scholarship fund or to our newly created Shepherd University Enhancement Fund for unrestricted program and technology support.
May a contribution be made in honor or in memory of a special person?
Yes, any gift in any amount may be designated to honor someone who made a difference in your life. These donations are printed in the Shepherd University President's Report and Honor Roll of Donors.
How do I establish a named fund in honor or in memory of a special person?
It is a simple process to create such a legacy. What a wonderful way to honor someone special in your life. A named endowed fund may be established for a minimum deposit of $25,000. Please call our office for assistance.
How do I make a donation?
Any donor may contact the Shepherd University Foundation by calling 800/344-5231, ext. 5391 or 304/876-5391 for complete assistance in making any tax qualified gift. Gifts may be made by cash, check, credit card, or by the transfer of appreciated assets such as stock, bonds, or real estate. You may also visit our secure online site to make donations via your credit card.
